2019 CALENDARS FROM LB & DARLA

Last year, Brutus produced his first ever calendar. It featured images from lighthouses he’s photographed around the world. Yeah, he’s kinda nerdy with that stuff. For 2019, we’re happy to announce two different calendars that you can only get thru social media.

The first calendar is “2019 Rock N Roll Images by Lou Brutus.” It features twelve black and white photos of stars both onstage and backstage that Lou interviewed during the year. Artists include Avenged Sevenfold, Metallica, Avatar, Five Finger Death Punch, The Pretty Reckless, Slipknot and others.

The second calendar is “Darla the Wonder Dog.” This was done especially by request for Lou’s followers who love Her Royal Pupness. Along with a dozen pictures of Darla through the year including at Easter, Halloween and Christmas, the calendar features special holidays and dates like National Mutt Day and National Puppy Day. Plus, there are birthdays for Darla’s other animal friends like Crosby, Babes and Venus the Meowing Pussycat. (Meow, meow, meow!)

These calendars are NOT for sale and will be in very limited numbers. The Darla calendars were produced in an especially small print run. The ONLY way to get them is to win them thru verified Lou Brutus social media accounts. Good luck.

YORKIE SUBMARINE

Time to save Pupperland with the release of “Yorkie Submarine.” It’s a downloadable coloring book that parodies “Yellow Submarine,” the landmark animated classic from The Beatles, celebrating it’s 50th anniversary this week. Download it for free here.

The story stars Lou’s beloved yorkiepoo Darla the Wonder Dog and tells the tale of the “Idyllic Doggy Destination” of Pupperland being invaded by evil Blue Kitties. Darla escapes in the Yorkie Submarine and brings back LB to free Sgt. Pupper’s Hungry Hounds Club Band. First they travel exotic undersea locales like The Sea of Digging Holes and The Sea of Dogs Can’t See Green before batting canine-hating creatures like Crazy Cat NippersDastardly Dog Catchers and The Fearsome Flying Vacuum.

Brutus wrote “Yorkie Submarine” with images provided by his longtime graphic artist Alan MacBain. Alan has provided art for several Brutus-related projects thru the years as well as other music-themed work for The B-52s and Dead Schembechlers among others.

Of the coloring book Brutus says, “I couldn’t help but notice that everyone on Earth has gone insane and want to beat each other into a fruit-juicy pulp. I thought, ‘What can I do to distract them for a few moments?’ Then I realized what the world needed was a totally whacked-out 50thanniversary parody of a trippy Beatles cartoon-movie starring my dog where she and I battle acid-casualty cats and giant, blood sucking ticks. Seriously, was there ever a better time for something so weird and silly? Hopefully, it will give people who download and color it a pleasant respite before they go back to yelling at one another. At least the price is right!”

Brutus continued, “The coloring book is free, but I encourage folks who enjoy it to donate their time and money directly to their local animal shelters and rescues. Our animal friends are one of the great blessings in life and we must be better stewards of this awesome planet we live on. I realize there are other problems that require attention, but with this particular project I thought it apropos to help our fellow creatures. Support the animal shelters and rescues where you live or consider adopting a pet of your own, even if it’s a wicked Blue Kitty, so you can join Darla and I on the Yorkie Submarine!”

FREE DOWNLOAD: Get the coloring book here. Then just download the PDF file and print it out! Be sure to share your colored versions (hand colored or computer coloring) with us on social media using the hashtag #YorkieSubmarine.

Radio trade All Access covers the story here. Inside Radio with a mention here. Read the full press release here.

STARSET: IMMERSION TOUR

Science fiction-themed music heroes Starset have embarked on their biggest-ever concert swing. The Immersion: Part One Tour is hitting dozens of cities across the United States and Brutus accompanied the band for a number of dates.

One of the unique aspects of the tour is the band’s use of their new phone app. It allows fans to access an augmented reality world during the demonstration. Download it for free wherever you get your apps. We also recommend their graphic novel from Marvel Comics “The Prox Transmissions” as well as the accompanying book.

Other bands on the tour include Palisades, Grabbitz, and Year of the Locust.

Lou traveled with Starset for the demonstrations in Milwaukee WI, Rockford IL, and Fargo ND. He photographed each of the shows and did an in-depth interview with the band’s Dustin Bates. Brutus also gave out free stickers, pins, and guitar picks from he and Darla the Wonder Dog to “messengers” of the group. “What an amazing tour experience. I can’t thank Starset, their crew, and the other groups for making me feel so at home on the tour. Most of all, thanks to Ernie the Wicked Tour Pup…even though he peed on me.”

FACTOID: While Brutus is a lieutenant in the Starset Society, he is outranked by Darla the Wonder Dog who has attained the rank of Major. She was awarded the society’s prestigious Laika Medal for Canine Excellence in Planetary Endeavors in 2016.

FREE STUFF FROM LOU & DARLA

There is always free schwaggage you can get from Lou and Darla the Wonder Dog! It includes Cthloubru stickers, pins, guitar picks and autographed Scott Pilgrim-style postcards. Plus, there are a limited amount of the latest LB and Darla baseball cards from Topps.

Lou wrote on Facebook, “I have a paid merch site but I also like having people write in for free stuff. It makes me feel a kinship with the old time radio programs like in Woody Allen’s wonderful film “Radio Days.” Be sure to write in and get cool junk from Darla and I!”

Send a self-addressed stamped envelope to Brutus World Industries PO Box 361 Arnold MD 21012. The autographed postcards are 5×7 so send a big enough envelope if you want one of those. The more postage you put on your envelope, the more we can send back.

SLED RUNNER: 2017

Once again, the incredible Alan MacBain, illustrator to the stars, has created an image for LB’s Christmas card.

The card for this year is entitled “Sled Runner: 2017” and it’s based on the poster artwork for the sci-fi masterpiece “Blade Runner: 2049.” Brutus replaced Ryan Gosling in the image with a silver-eyed, replicant version of Darla the Wonder Dog standing in for the film’s Jared Leto. The great Harrison Ford is pressed into service as St. Nick. Amongst the background images are an origami reindeer and origami devil horn’s in a nod to the origami from the film

These will be sent out to LB’s friends and family with a handful of others going out to his followers on social media. You can see it and other holiday cards from the past in the ART section of the IMAGES area of this site. Just click here.
