FEAR AND LOATHING AT THE NORTH POLE

The 2018 holiday card from Lou and Darla has been revealed and it may be the best yet!

Based on Ralph Steadman’s “Bats Over Barstow” illustration from Hunter S. Thompson’s landmark novel “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas,” Lou’s is “Fear and Loathing at the North Pole.” It features he and Darla maniacally sledding through a frozen landscape.

The art was created by LB’s longtime partner in artistic crime Alan MacBain of the Alan MacBain Cartoon Company.

Inside the card the caption reads, “We were somewhere around the Arctic Circle on the edge of the tundra when the eggnog began to take hold. Suddenly there was a terrible HO-HO-HO all around us and the sky was full of what looked like red-nosed reindeer, all swooping and screeching and diving around the sled, which was going about a hundred miles an hour to the North Pole.”

The art can be enjoyed online. A select few physical cards went out to family and friends. Also, as the best way to get Christmas card from someone is to send them card, Lou mailed off cards to a number of listeners who had been kind enough to send to him.

GUARDIANS OF THE HOLIDAY

The Lou Brutus holiday card for 2014 has been unveiled.

Once again, the artwork has been created by Lou’s longtime partner in artistic crime Alan MacBain of The Alan MacBain Cartoon Company.

This year the theme is Guardians of the Holiday with Lou and his beloved Darla the Wonder Dog joined by a bevy of rock star friends in a scene from the Guardians of the Galaxy film poster.

Brutus takes the Star Lord postion while Lzzy Hale of Halestorm is Gamora, Ivan Moody of Five Finger Death Punch is Drax the Destroyer and Jim Root of Slipknot stands in as Groot. A snarling Darla fires a laser a la Rocket Raccoon.

The cards are only sent out to friends and family of Lou’s. However, a very small amount of them will be made available to fans through LB’s social networks. Keep your eyes on the official Lou Brutus Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Good Luck!

MERRY BRUTMAS & HAPPY LOU YEAR

For 2010, the card pictures Brutus as the Grinch Who Stole Christmas complete with Max the Dog and Mount Crumpit in the background. The card was illustrated by Lou’s longtime artistic co-conspirator Alan MacBain. “I’ve done so may projects with Lou drawing him has become second nature. Yet I don’t think I’ll ever get over having to illustrate his monobrow. It’s…unnatural,” said the obviously shaken artist.

Want Alan to illustrate something for you? You can contact him thru his Facebook page here.

The card was done in a limited edition of 100.
