LONDON CALLING!

It was a whirlwind eight-day drip for your friend and humble narrator to one of his favorite places on the planet: London, England.

Here’s what LB had to post during his flight home to the USA…

“I must say that I had a splendid time in London. It truly is one of the best places on Earth. Although I would have liked to have seen more, I did make it to Buckingham Palace, 10 Downing Street, the British Museum (where I saw the Lewis chessmen!), the Imperial War Museum, Big Ben, London Eye, Tower Bridge, Tower of London, Millennium Bridge, St. Paul’s Cathedral, the Battle of Britain Memorial, and Paddington Station among other places. Got to watch the Changing of the Guard, do High Tea at Fortnum & Mason’s, and watch England in the World Cup down at the pub. Also managed to make it to Oxford where I caught the J.R.R. Tolkien Exhibition, visited the author’s gravesite, and drank at his favorite pub The Eagle and Child. There were also some film locations I saw including “The Prisoner,” “Notting Hill” and “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.” Finally, I got some Rock N Roll in with a visit to Abbey Road Studios as well as concerts with the Rolling Stones and Stone Sour. However, there is still much more to see so I hope to make it back soon, but for now it’s home to my little Darla! Many thanks to both Virgin Airlines and St. Ermin’s Hotel for being so awesome. Cheers, mates!”

ROTR GOES TO 11

Like a Nigel Tufnel guitar amp, Rock On the Range has now gone to 11.

The esteemed rock fest returned again to Columbus OH and Brutus continued his streak for attending each of them. With the exception of some hairy weather which caused him to cower like a drowned rat in the bowels of Mapfre Stadium, it was a splendid time for your friend and humble narrator. Lou connected with a long list of artists including Avenged Sevenfold, Alice in Chains, Godsmack, A Perfect Circle, Stone Sour, Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace, Stone Temple Pilots, Bullet for My Valentine, Underoath, Asking Alexandria, I Prevail, Greta Van Fleet, Trivium, Red Sun Rising, Atreyu, 10 Years, New Years Day, Miss May I, Tyler Bryand & the Shakedown, Wilson, From Ashes to New, Like A Storm, Shaman’s Harvest, The Fever 333, Stitched Up Heart, Shim, and too many more to mention.

Watch Lou’s socials for exclusive vid of the interviews as well as his backstage photo portraits.

Many thanks to the artists, crews, management, record company folks, catering, and security as everyone does their jobs very well. Special thanks the staffs of AEG and Danny Wimmer Presents for having Brutus back. Extra thanks to Paul and James of hardDrive Radio for the selfless logistical support. Finally, a great debt of gratitude to those of you who came out to support live music.

Hope you bought a t-shirt, too! To see a video overview of LB’s adventures go here.

FIVE-TIME CHAMPION!

The Rock Radio Awards were held at the Hard Rock Cafe in Las Vegas on Friday February 23rd, 2018 and for the fifth-straight time Lou Brutus was the winner as Best Nationally Syndicated DJ in America.

Upon getting news of the award he posted, “I’ve just learned I was the winner tonight as Best Nationally Syndicated Host for the Rock Radio Awards at the Hard Rock Cafe in Las Vegas. I’m really shocked to have won again and am very grateful to those who voted for me.”

Originally, LB was once-again slated to host the awards. However, his travel schedule was incredibly intense over the last month and he felt he would do a sub-standard job as host so bowed out. “I really wanted to be there but I wouldn’t have landed in Las Vegas till an hour or so before the awards and I didn’t want to disappoint everyone with a poor performance. I hope I’ll be invited back for a future show,” he said.

Not expecting to win again and with no one volunteering to accept for him, Brutus is thankful to his friend Ski from WJJO in Madison, Wisconsin for accepting on his behalf. He hadn’t prepared a speech so she read the closing quote from Hunter S. Thompson’s “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.”

Brutus continues as the only winner as nationally syndicated DJ in the history of the awards. He sends his gratitude to everyone from The Contraband Company who organize the Rock Radio Awards especially Steven Walker and Beatrix Danko.

STARSET: IMMERSION TOUR

Science fiction-themed music heroes Starset have embarked on their biggest-ever concert swing. The Immersion: Part One Tour is hitting dozens of cities across the United States and Brutus accompanied the band for a number of dates.

One of the unique aspects of the tour is the band’s use of their new phone app. It allows fans to access an augmented reality world during the demonstration. Download it for free wherever you get your apps. We also recommend their graphic novel from Marvel Comics “The Prox Transmissions” as well as the accompanying book.

Other bands on the tour include Palisades, Grabbitz, and Year of the Locust.

Lou traveled with Starset for the demonstrations in Milwaukee WI, Rockford IL, and Fargo ND. He photographed each of the shows and did an in-depth interview with the band’s Dustin Bates. Brutus also gave out free stickers, pins, and guitar picks from he and Darla the Wonder Dog to “messengers” of the group. “What an amazing tour experience. I can’t thank Starset, their crew, and the other groups for making me feel so at home on the tour. Most of all, thanks to Ernie the Wicked Tour Pup…even though he peed on me.”

FACTOID: While Brutus is a lieutenant in the Starset Society, he is outranked by Darla the Wonder Dog who has attained the rank of Major. She was awarded the society’s prestigious Laika Medal for Canine Excellence in Planetary Endeavors in 2016.
